The South Community Library is a member of Winding Rivers Library System (WRLS). Items may be checked out from, returned or requested from any public library within Buffalo, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Vernon Counties. Library cards are free for Wisconsin residents.

Second Annual Edible Book Fest
Saturday, April 12, 2014
Who: Whether you’re a professional chef or just like to play with your food, the fest is open to anyone.
What: Participants create a book-related dish or dessert inspired by a favorite tale, a pun on a book title, or in the shape of a book (or scroll, or tablet, etc.). For example, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss could be fashioned by eggs dyed green and pieces of ham. Participants may choose to display the book that inspired their entry.
Where: South Community Library, 1307 South 16th Street, La Crosse
When: Saturday, April 12, 2014
11-12:30 pm – Participants drop off edible entries at South Community Library
12:30-1:30 pm – Judging and photography
1-2:30 pm – Public voting for Patrons’ Choice Award, candy bracelet construction and hat decorating
1:15-2:40 am – Demonstrations
2:45 pm – Welcome, judges' commentary and awards
Guidelines: Individuals and groups of any size may submit an entry in the festival. Entries must be made from anything that is edible (cake, bread, crackers, Jell-o, fruit, vegetables, candy, etc.) and must be related to books in either shape or theme. Your edible entry will not be served.
Registration: To enter the festival, please fill out and return the bottom of this form to South Community Library no later than Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Registration is free to enter. Early registration is encouraged.
Awards: Entries will be photographed and displayed at the South Community Library and on the library’s Flickr and Facebook pages. Participants will receive a certificate, and prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
Best Visual Presentation
Best Professional Presentation
Just Kid(s) 14 years old and under
