How to Make a Pickle Explode
(and Other Adventures of Writing for Kids)

Acclaimed Children’s Author Claudia Mills will be visiting the La Crosse Public Library on Thursday, April 20 at 6 PM to share her experiences as a writer in a lively talk entitled, “How to Make a Pickle Explode (and Other Adventures of Writing for Kids).”
Claudia Mills is the prolific author of the popular Mason Dixon series, the Franklin School Friends series, and the Gus and Grandpa series. She holds a PhD in philosophy from Princeton University and an MLS degree (with a concentration in children’s literature) from the University of Maryland and is an Associate Professor Emerita of Philosophy at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
The author of almost 60 books for young readers, most recently Write This Down and The Trouble with Babies, she has published books for all ages, including picture books, easy readers, chapter books, and novels for middle-schoolers. Her books have been named Notable Books of the Year by the American Library Association.
