Because of the growth of the city of La Crosse over a number of years, many cemeteries that were historically beyond the city limits have been incorporated into the city boundaries. These include Campbell (originally the Town of Campbell), Gate of Heaven and Woodlawn North (originally a part of the Town of Medary), Jacobs/Gabel Family and Oehler Family cemeteries (originally part of the Town of Shelby).
