La Crosse Area Grants Resource Center

books on a shelf The Library is a designated Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center. This means that the Library has numerous resources to help local nonprofit groups and individuals find funding and grants. The Resource Center is located on the 2nd floor of the main library. 

 

Foundation Directory Online Training

Contact Noreen Fish in the Reference Department for one-on-one or group training on the Foundation Directory online.  608-789-7122 or n.fish@lacrosse.lib.wi.us.

Additional, self-guided online training for grantseekers is available through the Foundation Center. Check out their Grantspace Classroom page for a schedule of free and fee-based courses that you can complete using the library's or your own computer.

Foundation Directory Online Professional (FDO) This Foundation Center resource connects grantseekers with grantmakers and is the top online source for philanthropic research. Includes over 98,000 US foundations and corportate donors and 1.6 recent grants. The Directory includes detailed text and visual tutorials on how to get the most out of your searches.  FDO is available on all public access computers at the Main library.

Foundation Grants to Individuals Online (FGI)  An ideal source for students, artists, entreprenuers and others looking for financial assistance from foundations that grant funds to individuals.  FGI is available on all public access computers at the Main library. 

Philanthrophy In/Sight Use this tool to create thematic maps plotting grants, grant recipients, and over 100 demographic and thematic data sets. Available on all public access computers at the Main library

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. This is a comprehensive listing of federal projects, services and programs from which assistance is available to Americans.

Charity Navigator This website is the "premier independent charity evaluator" of over 5,400 American charities. It's useful for helping to decide how to distribute your charitible contributions.

Chronicle of Philanthropy  CoP is "the newspaper of the nonprofit world" and the first go-to publication for those involved in philanthropic activity.
