Ask USGS helps you find maps and aerial photographs through the Geographic Names Information System database, or order educational materials about the natural sciences, and links to the National Earthquake Information Center.

How far is It?

"This service uses data from the US Census and a supplementary list of cities around the world to find the latitude and longitude of two places, and then calculates the distance between them (as the crow flies). It also provides a map showing the two places, using the Xerox PARC Map Server."

Map Centre

Map Centre contains current country maps and maps by emergency.

Map Collections:

Map Collections focuses on Americana and Cartographic Treasures from the Library of Congress.  It is organized into seven categories:   cities and towns, conservation and environment, discovery and exploration, cultural landscapes, military battles and campaigns, transportation and communications.

Your European guide to maps and driving directions.

MapQuest

MapQuest offers interactive mapping service featuring three million locations worldwide, point to point driving directions offering mileage totals and accounting for changing road conditions.

National Atlas

The National Atlas includes an interactive map layers that interpret the geography, population and boundaries of the United States and animated multimedia maps on vegetation growth, exotic species and volcanoes.

Perry-Castandea Library Map Collection

Hosted by the University of Texas at Austin, this site is a collection of online maps of general in interest. This site also features maps of areas currently in the news.

Rand McNally

Rand McNally offers driving directions, road maps, the latest road construction updates, travel guides, and world maps.

TerraServer

TerraServer offers aerial photographs and topographic maps of places in the United States.

TopoZone

TopoZone offers topographic maps based on a partnership with the United States Geological Survey.

U.S. Gazetteer

The U.S. Gazetteer is used to identify places to view with the Tiger Map Server and obtain census data from the 1990 & 2000 Census Lookup server.  You can search for places, counties or minor civil divisions by entering the name and state abbreviation (optional), or 5-digit zip code.
