Classical Music Navigation offers short biographical information on composers.  It includes the style/period of a composer, what the composer is best known for, his/her notable works, and his/her musical influences. The "Index of Forms and Styles" and the "Glossary" define musical terminology.

Classicol.com offers a directory to over 3000 classical music web sites.  "The Classical Music Guide" is an illustrated guide to the history and development of classical music, instruments, and ensembles. 

Music History 102

Music History 102 is a concise guide to music popular during various historical period.  It also includes information about notable composers.

Women Composers

Women Composers has gathered brief biographical information on 6,000 women composers.  The criteria to be included on this list is:   composers born prior to 1950s; the composers are listed in Aaron Cohen's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF WOMEN COMPOSERS; their works have been recorded on compact disc.
