This site details the distribution of forests throughout the world .  It includes details on the geography of the region, the forest cover, plantations, fires, and trees outside of forests.

Earth Trends

Earth Trends is an environmental information portal that examines coastal and marine ecosystems, water resources and freshwater ecosystems, climate and the atmosphere.  Other issues covered are population, health, human well-being, economics, business and the environment, energy and resources, biodiversity and protected areas, agriculture and food, forests, grasslands, and environmental governance.

Environmental News Network

The Environmental News Network offers timely environmental news, chats, interactive quizzes, daily feature stories, forums for debate, audio and video on the condition of the earth's environment.

Grand Challenges in Environmental Sciences

Grand Challenges in Environmental Sciences is an online book that tries to identify and describe eight important areas of environmental research for the next generation:  biogeochemical cycles; biodiversity and ecosystem functioning; climate variability; hydrologic forecasting; infectious disease; the environment; institutions and resource use; land-use dynamics; and reinventing the use of materials.

Planet Ark

Planet Ark offers environmental articles and photographs from around the world but mainly focusing on Australia.

Wild World

Wild World offers maps that showcase the Earth's richest, rarest and most endangered areas in "Global 200."  It also displays maps and information for all 857 land-based ecoregions on the planet in "Terrestrial Ecoregions of the World."
