Better Business Bureau is dedicated

an ethical business environment." You can check out a company,
file a complaint, find a better business bureau near you, or find
information on where you can donate money.
Chamber
of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce is a searchable
directory of chambers of commerce throughout the United States,
Canada, and foreign chambers of commerce .
Corporate
Information
Corporate Information is a good starting
point for information on U.S. and international companies. You
can search a company from over 350,000 profiles. Research a company’s
industry and get a list of relevant links and a summary of the
industry. It is also possible to search by country or state. Other
features include research reports and currency rates.
EDGAR
EDGAR is a database of companies that
are required by law to submit forms to the U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission. "Its primary purpose is to increase the
efficiency and fairness of the securities market for the benefit
of investors, corporations, and the economy by accelerating the
receipt, acceptance, dissemination and analysis of time-sensitive
corporate information files with the agency."
Kompass
Kompass has information on 1.5 million
companies, 23 million key product and service references, 3 million
executive names, and over 700,000 trade and brand names. It searches
for U.S. and international companies either by products or services
or by company and trade names. It does offer more detailed information
through a paid subscription service.
North
American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
NAICS is the new classification system
that was developed by U.S., Canada, and Mexico "to promote
new comparability in statistics about business activity across
North America." It allows users to cross-reference either
the SIC or NAICS codes.
Standard
Industrial Classification (SIC)
Standard Industrial Classification is
based on the 1987 version of the SIC manual held by many libraries.
SIC was developed for use in the classification of of business
types for statistical purposes. A search can be done two ways:
by keyword or by the 4-digit SIC code.

Chambers
World Chambers is a searchable guide
to United States and international chambers of commerce. It offers
contact information, a web link (when there is one), name of the
president/CEO, and whether or not they offer international services.
