Findlaw

Findlaw has been called the Yahoo of legal resources. It provides links to U.S. and international case law and state codes, specialty centers and services (legal job listings, legal workshops, and other professional development areas), law schools, legal practice materials, legal forms, and legal subjects. Findlaw's site has created different sections for lawyers, students, the public, and for business and arranged the needed topical information in one place so you don’t have to search around for it.

Guide to Law Online

"Guide to Law Online is an annotated compendium of hypertext links and descriptions of certain server sites accessible through the Internet."  It includes sections of U.S. Federal law (issued by the legislative, executive and judicial branch) and Miscellaneous law (criminal justice system, law reviews online, native peoples, states and associated jurisdictions, and subjects).

Hieros Gamos

Hieros Gamos is a comprehensive web site for legal and government information. It offers links to world governments, legal associations, law firms, international legal resources, legal directories, etc.

LexisOne Registration is required

LexisOne provides case law from Jan. 1, 1996 to present.   Search  by citation or use Boolean searching. The site includes a legal directory to other legal resources on the Internet broken down by subject. Another nice feature is the collection of general and specific legal forms available. Adobe Acrobat is needed to view the legal forms.

Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator

This search tool allows you to find Federal inmates since 1982 to current.

National Sex Offender Public Registry

"This Web site is provided as a public service by the U.S. Department of Justice ("the Department"). Using this Web site, interested members of the public have access to and may search participating state Web site public information regarding the presence or location of offenders, who, in most cases, have been convicted of sexually-violent offenses against adults and children and certain sexual contact and other crimes against victims who are minors. The public can use this Web site to educate themselves about the possible presence of such offenders in their local communities."

Pac-Info

Pac-Info is the place to find out what public records are available online for a particular state. The site indexes all available records and provides direct links to the corresponding web sites.

People Finder Guide

This site is a guide for finding public records information and locating people.

Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry

"This Web site is designed to enhance public safety by making the information contained in the Sex Offender Registry easily accessible to the public. It will also serve to enhance public awareness about sexual violence in our communities and provide valuable information about the ways in which individuals and communities can protect themselves and those they love from acts of sexual violence."

Wisconsin Record Check

This web site ables you to check on someone's criminal history. There is a cost associated with the service.
