CSA Hot Topic Series

This site is a comprehensive information on current issues with an overview of the subject, key citations with abstracts and links to web sites.

Council on Foreign Relations

"The Council on Foreign Relations is dedicated to increasing America’s understanding of the world and contributing ideas to U.S. foreign policy. The Council accomplishes this mainly by promoting constructive debates and discussions, clarifying world issues, and publishing Foreign Affairs, the leading journal on global issues."

Documents in the News

Documents in the News identifies government-related issues making news headlines and web sources with additional information.  Some topics the site has developed are:   affirmative action, California energy crisis, China-U.S. Plane incident, election reform, etc.

Global Issues that Affect Everyone has created links to articles, web site reports, and analysis on current issues such as poverty, arms control, conflicts in Africa, NATO and Kosovo, biodiversity, human population, etc.

Hot Topics and Issues is a hot topic directory to Internet resources.  It includes links to abortion, cloning, animal experimentation, racism, sexual harassment, gun control, etc.

International Information Programs (Department of State) 

International Information Programs gives a view of the United States to foreigners.  It includes news, official statements, and cultural and historical materials.  It covers a wide variety of topics including U.S. policy concerning global issues, international security issues, economic issues, human rights, U.S. relations with other countries, and “issues in focus” (refugees, HIV/AIDS, arms control, nonproliferation, missile defense, and the environment).

Online NewsHour

The Online NewsHour offers background reports on current domestic and international topics.  It includes articles, streaming video, and streaming audio.

Public Agenda

Public Agenda offers coverage on a variety of hot topics/current issues. The site helps users to understand the background of the issues and provides current public opinion. It is very useful when researching or debating current events such as gun control, campaign finance, health care, illegal drugs, right to die, etc.

Social Issues by Multnomah County Library

Social issues is provided by the Multnomah County Library, Portland, Oregon. The  site is a wonderful resource for information on topics that concern today's society:  abortion, affirmative action, global warming, human rights, homelessness, homosexuality, world population and much more.
