The La Crosse Newspaper Index covers local and regional news stories from the La Crosse Tribune. Indexing for city of La Crosse articles started in September 1990. Indexing for articles relating to Buffalo, Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Vernon counties started on January 1, 2004. Some older articles, as well as articles from other sources, have also been added. These news stories include, but are not limited to, businesses, organizations, elections, schools, crime, government, and events. Human interest stories, sports scores, advertisements and editorials are generally not included.

Search aids: To broaden your search, use an asterisk [*].  For example, flood* will pull up results with flood, flooding, floods. Using quotation marks ["word word"] will find phrases.

To sort by date after you have retrieved results, select "Sort by: Date," and click on the "Search" button again.

City of La Crosse articles have subject headings, and many of these articles can be found in the clipping file collection in the Archives Room. Articles with no subject headings, or those with an asterisk (*) at the end of the abstract, can be found in the microfilm holdings for the La Crosse Tribune in the Reference area.
