Abstract

The La Crosse Area Trainers Association (LATA) formed in 1983 to provide and promote networking and skill development opportunities for area professionals affiliated with the Training and Development field. Programs sponsored by the group were designed to aid its members with employee training and development. The group disbanded in July 2002.

Materials include historical materials, correspondence, financial information, membership lists, a membership survey, some minutes, programs, and steering committee materials.

History

The La Crosse Area Trainers Association (LATA) formed in 1983 to provide and promote networking and skill development opportunities for area professionals affiliated with the Training and Development field. A steering committee planned programs and provided leadership for the organization. Programs and presentations sponsored by the group were designed to share knowledge regarding various aspects of employee training and development. The group disbanded in July 2002 due to low participation at meetings and difficulty in recruiting individuals to serve on the steering committee.

Scope and Content

La Crosse Area Trainers Association materials consist of some materials relating to the history and formation of the group (1983-1987) and correspondence (1983-2002), the bulk of which consists of emails between members. Other materials include financial information consisting of bank statements (2000-2001), membership lists (1994-2001), and a membership survey (1999) in which the steering committee was attempting to determine the future direction of the organization. Very few meeting minutes (2000) are available in this collection. Meeting and promotional programs (1986-2001) are more complete, but few steering committee materials (2000-2001) are present.
