  • History of Oktoberfest
    Monday Mornings at Main

We're getting ready for Oktoberfest with a special edition of our weekly Monday Mornings at Main series of lifelong learning programs. Join Duane Moore, the 1997 La Crosse Oktoberfest Festmaster and local TV legend, for a fascinating presentation on the history of Oktoberfest. Monday Mornings at Main meets every Monday in the fall and spring for a series of lifelong learning for ages 50 and better. Each week we hear from a different local expert on a wide-variety of topics. Monday Mornings at Main is paid for by a grant from the Gert Salzer Gordon Trust.

  • Researching Bavarian Ancestors
    La Crosse Genealogical Society
    Tuesday, September 25, 6:00 PM

Join the La Crosse Area Genealogical Society at the La Crosse Public Library for their monthly meeting. Get tips and information on searching your family history. This month we'll be discussing ways to research Bavarian ancestors. How do you find the town of origin? How do you know what records to search? Bavaria is a big place with boundaries that shifted over the centuries. The problem with most webinars, presentations, and advice for searching in Germany is that the focus is seldom on Bavaria, which has its own unique research issues. Please join us as Penny Bonnar provides key pointers to help you find your way to and through the records. The presentation will include handouts.

  • Polka Tots
