Read A Rhyme

2010-10-21 11:04:38 Posted By: Debbie - YS

Fingerplays are rhymes for very young children that use hand movements along with words to engage and sustain children's interest. You and your baby or toddler can have fun doing this rhyme with the included finger actions.

Try doing fingerplays:
• at bath time
• during diaper changing
• when you’re waiting in line
• if you have a minute to spare
• when you have a baby to soothe

Itsy-Bitsy Spider
The itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the water spout. (Make fingers climb up.)

Down came the rain (Wigglefingers and arms downward.) and washed the spider out. (Sweep hands down to sides.)

Out came the sun (Circle arms over head.) and dried up all the rain,(Raise hands and make wide circle with arms.)

and the Itsy-Bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. (Repeat finger climbing action.)
