Name: Jacob
Grade: 9
Title & Author: The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud

Comments: “A very enjoyable book, really liked the storyline, liked most of the characters and it was very descriptive. I recommend this book to any advanced readers, magic lovers such as Harry Potter fans and Lord of the Rings fans or fast readers as it is long and quite unique. I would say this is a modern Lord of the Rings and full of much more action.”

Name: Glennie
Grade: 8
Title & Author: Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Comments: “This book is quite unexplainable... and you can't quite compare it to the Harry Potter series, because they are both different. I mean people dream of this book and now there's a totally hot movie about it now. Everyone says this book is a must, and this other book is a must.... but this one simply needs to be read.”

Name: Krisann
Grade: 9
Title & Author: Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Comments: “Twilight is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My friends made me read it and I have to say that they made the right chose to do it.  I love it!  I hope that the movie is just as good as the book and I can't wait until Breaking Dawn comes out!”

Name: Cassidy
Grade: 9
Title & Author: Pants of Fire by Meg Cabot

Comments: “I am a huge fan of Meg Cabot, so basically any book she writes I fall in love with. This book is all about a girl who has a boyfriend, but has different hookups with other people. She doesn't know who she wants, or what she wants. If you’re into drama and boys....read this book!”

Name: Paloma
Grade: 6
Title & Author: Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Comments: “I would say this book is awesome!! It is one of those books that you can never put down.  It is kinda like Harry Potter and it is very great!  If you are one of those people who hate reading then you should read this book—it will get you addicted!”

Name: Rebecca
Grade: 10
Title & Author: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon

Comments: “This is a great book & you should read it!  This novel is about an autistic boy who lives in contemporary England.  One night he goes into one of his neighbor’s yards uninvited and finds her poodle Wellington dead with a pitchfork sticking out of him. Then that night the boy ends up in jail and gets something called a “caution” – a warning. His father tells him not get into other people’s business but he cannot stop himself. So he begins an investigation of his own to find out who killed Wellington the poodle.  In the midst of it all he begins to write a nonfiction mystery book about the murder of this dog. It is written in first person. This is a fictional mystery novel from the point of view of an autistic teen boy. It is a very easy read with a few English words sprinkled throughout the book, like “letterbox” (mailbox). I would recommend it to people that love adventure/misters and unusual stories.”

And why he can fly all the time.”

Title & Author: The Android’s Dream by John Scalzi

Comments: “Weird book. Very weird. However, I think it is a very good read.  It's not about androids at all. It's actually about a race of extraterrestrials who, for ritual purposes, need a sheep. This sheep can only be found on earth, it is called the Android's Dream and it has electric blue wool. That's all I'm going to say. Read the book.”

Grade: 6
Title & Author: The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Comments: It rocks—you will never want to put it down. You find romance, mystery, fantasy, action, humor, and lots of other things. You just love and hate with Harry. J.K. Rowling does such a good job describing the situation, and it's almost as if you're there. You never see what's coming ever. If you like the book, you can watch the movies.  You can definitely see relationships developing in the first book. The only bad thing is that there are only 7 books.

Title & Author: The Guardians of Time trilogy by Marianne Curley

They weave an intricate tale that tells about what might have happened if the past was meddled with, and what a group of people are trying to do to make it right. For those who enjoy reading fantasy, this book is a great read.”

Name: Erin
Grade: 10
Title & Author: Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
Comments: "Incredible read... I would highly recommend it for any readers who wish for a challenging read with a complex and intricately woven plot, well constructed characters, and plenty of moral dilemmas. The book is different from the Broadway musical, with a completely different set of plot twists, and much more character depth. I would not recommend this book to preteens, or even some younger teens, however, as there is mature/adult content. Overall, however, a superb book; I was unable to set it down!"

Comments: “This GREAT, well-written series is based on Arthurian legends, with stories about King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Gawain, and lots of characters you haven't heard of yet. But the best thing about this series is the way it is written! The author has a sense of humor, and the books are so much fun to read. The characters are real and witty, and the plot is thick. But the books stay true to the style of Camelot, and are never dry or boring. A MUST read for any fans of King Arthur/medieval books! MY FAVE!”
