Changes to Hoopla Checkout Limits

Starting October 1, Hoopla borrowing limits will be reduced from 6 per month to 3 per month.

Why the change?

  • We want to make sure Hoopla remains sustainable for our library and community. Each Hoopla checkout has a cost to the library (whether the item is utilized or not), and while some users borrow and enjoy every title, data shows us that many items are downloaded but never opened.
  • By reducing the monthly limit, we hope to continue offering Hoopla while balancing costs fairly for all.

We know many of you also use Libby for eBooks and audiobooks, and we encourage you to continue exploring both platforms—each offers different content, and together they provide a wide variety of choices. Additionally, we’ll be expanding the way we purchase digital items in Libby in the future. This means more options, shorter wait times, and a wider variety of titles available for you to enjoy.

Thank you for your understanding as we monitor usage and costs. Your feedback is always welcome as we evaluate how best to invest in digital resources that serve our community.
