Teachers: Library Tours and More!
Interested in a tour, storytime, or library books in your City of La Crosse classroom? Check out the options below, designed especially for teachers. All library services are free!
How to Schedule a Tour
Find out how the library works, get cards for your students and hear a story during a tour of your local library. Call Brooke at 608-789-7133 or fill out the form to schedule your tour today.
Do You Want to Get Library Cards During Your Visit?
Want to help your students get their own library cards before your class or group visits the library? Check that box on our scheduling form and we will make arrangements for applications to be sent home in advance of your visit. (Completed applications usually need to be received 1-2 weeks before a scheduled visit for processing.)
Preschool Storytime
Regular preschool storytimes are held at all La Crosse Public Library locations. If your class would like to attend a storytime at the library, we are happy to have you! We only ask that you contact the library a few days ahead so that librarians can plan accordingly.
Storytime in the Classroom
Can't travel to the library? Let the library come to you! Librarians can visit your classroom with stories, songs, puppets and more! Themes vary and may be tailored to fit your curriculum. To schedule a storytime in your classroom, fill out our web form or email dawn@lacrosselibrary.org.
Other fun library visits
Storytime isn’t all we can do! Your librarians can offer poetry breaks (where we surprise your class with a quick but delightful poetry recitation), Book Talks (where we highlight great books for their grade level commercial-style), STEAM programs (think Lego building, cup stacking, paper airplane making and contests, art activities) and more!
Preset Library Visit Options
Our library offers various set options depending on grade level. For more information on any of these programs, please email Brooke at bnewberry@lacrosselibrary.org . Or use this form to request a Librarian Visit.

Caregiver Workshops
These classes are for adults only and provide child care educator credits. During a Caregiver Workshop, a librarian hosts an interactive event for parents, teachers, and caregivers focusing on extending learning through books, crafts, felt, music, food, and more. For more information about upcoming workshops, or if you would like a workshop to come to your location, email dawn@lacrosselibrary.org.
Books to Go
Want a new set of books each month for students and families? Let us bring our books to your door! Books to Go check-out can be done in many ways -- a rotating set of library books can be brought to your classroom once each month; Librarians can bring books for kids to check out individually; books on a certain theme can be chosen ahead of time and held at your nearest library. For more information or to request this service, email dawn@lacrosselibrary.org. Or, use this form to make your request.
Other Special Events
Are you planning a Family Fun Night, School Carnival, Literacy Night or other special event and want the library to participate? We can provide informational booths, craft activities, and more! Email Liz at lringstrom@lacrosselibrary.org.
