DECEMBER PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

  • Storytime for Adults: Merry & Bright December 6th, 6:30pm
    Why should children have all the fun? Our monthly 'Storytime for Adults' is meeting on the first Monday of December at the Turtle Stack Brewery. Join us to hear your favorite local librarians and performers read some of our favorite short stories and essays. Register via our events calendar or by calling 608-789-7145.
     
  • What's Your Story? Virtual Storytelling Workshop December 8, 6:30pm
    Turn your experiences into great stories! This free workshop with Jen Rubin offers tools to help you find and craft your real-life stories.  Register here: bit.ly/3qyBo5e
     
  • Legends & Folklore of Winter with Chad Lewis December 9, 6:00pm
    Researcher, author, and lecturer on all things strange and unusual, Chad Lewis will visit the library  virtually once again in this winter. Winter may seem like a quiet time, but it is actually filled with bizarre tales and stories of cannibalistic spirits, Krampus the anti-Santa Claus, stories of little people, werewolves, witches, people being burned alive, and numerous other traditions for the darkest days of the year.  Register via our events calendar
     
  • Chair Fitness: Tuesdays 10-11 a.m. December 7 & 14
    Have fun exercising while sitting in a chair.  Chair Fitness will get your heart pumping and your body moving.  Chair Fitness if for all ages and all fitness levels.  You should consult your physician or other healthcare professional before starting this or any other fitness program.  Registration is required. COVID-19 protocols will be in place - masks required, social distancing and occupancy limits will be in place. To register, call 608-789-8640
     
  • Tech Help Drop-In: St. Andrew Street Community Connections Center, December 16th, 11:00am
    Did you recently get a new phone or tablet? Have some questions about it? We will be available at the new the St. Andrew Street Center to help you navigate your new device!  Please make sure your device is charged and that you have your passwords handy.
     
  • Yoga for All: December 11, 10:30am
    Join certified yoga instructor Bernice Olson-Pollack for this free community yoga program encouraging gentle body movement for all agesabilities and walks of life.  Each class will explore basic yoga poses, yogic breathing, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques surrounding a different topic each month.  Register using the LPL events calendar, or by calling Heather at 608-789-7125 or emailing

  • Home Weatherization with Habitat For Humanity, December 15th, 6:30pm

    Heating costs are going up, but we all want to stay warm this winter. Executive Director Kahya Fox and Construction Site Supervisor Curtis Miller from Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Area will share Simple Energy Saving Tips for your home as well information about helpful programs, all which will keep more money in your pocket this winter.  Join us in person or virtually for this presentation!  Register here.

  • B.Y.O.B. Bring Your Own Book (Club): Thursday, December 16th, 7:00pm
    B.Y.O.B. (Club) is a non-traditional book club for adults. Instead of reading a predetermined title, participants meet online to share what they’re currently reading and pick up new recommended reads.  Whether you can’t wait to talk up your new favorite title or just want to listen to the conversation, all are welcome to join!  Register via our events calendar, by emailing hmiller@lacrosselibrary.org or by calling Heather at 608.789.7125.
