It’s National Friends of Libraries Week! In honor of that, we wanted to brag about our Friends group! Since 1967, the Friends of the La Crosse Public Library have been dedicated to encouraging the use of the Library as a center for the educational and cultural life of our community.
Every year, our Friends help raise funds that enables our library to move from good to great - providing additional resources beyond our tax-supported operating budget. With sales of gently used books from the Friends Bookshop, membership dues and gifts, here’s just a few of the ways that our Friends provide ongoing support for additional programming resources, much needed supplies, support for the children’s summer library program, and special events throughout the year:
We are extremely grateful for our Friends and the gift of their time and commitment to the library through advocacy, volunteerism, and financial contributions. So, if you see a Friend of the La Crosse Public Library this week, please give them a smile and thank them for their support! Better yet, you can support your library and your community by joining the Friends and becoming a member today!
