This month our featured nonprofit is Great Rivers United Way.  The mission of the Great Rivers United Way (GRUW) is to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities.  For sixty-nine years, Great Rivers United Way has been the unifying force that brings together community leaders, organized labor, faith-based groups, corporations, nonprofit organizations and governments. Together, they create sweeping change that lifts up entire communities, in own backyard and around the world.

GRUW goes beyond single-issue solutions and temporary fixes to impact thousands of lives every year, uniting the key service principals of health, financial stability, education and community basics to impact the lives of community members in its six-county service region:

  • Health = We expand access to affordable health care, healthy foods, and opportunities for physical activity.
  • Financial Stability = We connect people with the education and support they need to thrive in the job market.
  • Education = We give people the education and tools to improve their lives – and the lives of their children.
  • Community Basics = We provide basics like food, shelter, and safety so people have the foundation to grow and thrive.
