Welcome back for a new season of Monday Mornings at Main!
Beginning September 13, 2021, we invite you to join us in person* in the Main Hall of the La Crosse Public Library for lifelong learning programs designed for ages 50 and better.
Each Monday morning at 10:00AM from September 13 – November 29, we'll hear from a new speaker on a variety of topics ranging from local history, health and wellness, to popular entertainment and more! The 9th street entrance will open early at 9:30AM for attendees to enjoy social time in Main Hall. On October 18, Curtis Miller, from Habitat for Humanity will present "Aging in Place."
Studies show that Aging in a safe and affordable home that is modified for mobility issues leads to a higher quality of life, less falls, and healthier aging. This class will present assessment tips and 5 areas where you can DIY or hire to better suit your needs with some hands on demonstration. Curtis will also review Habitat’s Critical Home Repair program and how it might help you. Areas that will be addressed:
- Entering and Exiting - steps
- Lights and outlets for safety
- Flooring options
- Bathroom solutions
- Dealing with doors - hardware, widening, sliding
*Note: COVID-19 in-person recommendations from local health departments will be observed. The program will also be recorded and made available on our YouTube page.
