DESCRIPTION:The Dab Pog and the Xwb Kab are found throughout Hmong spiritu
 al practices, from birth to marriage ceremonies to final rites. Register n
 ow to learn about Dab Pog, one of the oldest Hmong folklores that explores
  the story of the ancestral spirit guides of birth and death. In this prog
 ram, we will review this story and dive into how that translates to cultur
 al practices such as the calling of the hu plig (soul). The Dag Pog are of
 ten considered the creators and protectors of the Hmong. In counterbalance
 , we will also discuss the Xwb Kab, the spirit protectors of personal weal
 th and health, the home and hearth, and the alters often found in Hmong ho

  Ph.D. in Medical Anthropology from the University of Colorado at Boulder,
  a M.A. in Applied Anthropology from Northern Arizona University in Flagst
 aff, Arizona, and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Metropolitan State 
 University of Denver. She was a professor of Anthropology and Ethnic Studi
 es from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota and a former Re
 search Associate with the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Denver Scien
 ce Museum. She is the award-winning author of the books, Queen of Needlewo
 rk, Hmong American Concepts of Health, Healing, and Conventional Medicine,
  Dia’s Story Cloth: The Hmong People’s Journey of Freedom, Teaching wi
