La Crosse Public Library Invites Community to Celebration of Newly Renovated Spaces and CREATE Lab
LA CROSSE, WI — La Crosse Public Library invites the community to celebrate the completion of its interior renovation with an all-day, open-house-style grand opening on Tuesday, March 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This post-renovation celebration offers community members the chance to explore the library’s newly updated spaces, including 10 new meeting rooms, new computer lab spaces, and the reimagined Creation Space—now called the CREATE Lab. Visitors are encouraged to drop in to tour the spaces, try out activities, and enjoy light snacks and music throughout the day. There will be staff-guided tours every hour on the hour, and activities happening in the CREATE Lab throughout the day.
The CREATE Lab will offer a refreshed and more intentional approach to making for all ages. Designed to support creative learning, the space focuses on hands-on exploration and skill-building through curated maker kits and accessible technology. At launch, visitors can explore activities such as game animation and printmaking, with additional tools and equipment planned for future phases.
The renovation project was fully supported by a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Flexible Facilities Program, funded through the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Capital Projects Fund. This funding made it possible for the library to complete critical building and broadband upgrades without using local taxpayer dollars from its day-to-day operating budget.
“We’re grateful for this opportunity to improve our spaces in a way that better supports learning, creativity, and connection—while keeping our core services accessible to the community,” said Dawn Wacek, Library Director. “This project allows us to better serve La Crosse now and into the future.”
