The La Crosse Public Library has served as a Federal Depository Library since 1883, providing access to a wide variety of government documents, in various formats. Today's FDLP collection increasingly consists of links to selected government resources published on the web. These resources can be found and accessed through the library's catalog

Ben's Guide to the U.S. Government  Students, parents, and educators will find this a useful tool for learning and teaching about our nation's government, history, and political structure. Available online only. 

Budget of the United States Government  PREX 2.8  This collection of documents, online starting in 1996, contains the President's budget message, information about the President's budget proposals, and other budgetary publications that have been issued throughout the fiscal year.

Catalog of U.S. Government Publications  The finding tool for federal publications, historical and current, with direct links to those available online. Available online only.

Code of Federal Regulations  This is the annual edition of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by departments and agencies of the Federal Government. Available online only.

Compilation of Presidential Documents  The daily and weekly compilations of the Presidential documents are the official publication of material released by the White House Press Secretary. Available online only. 

Congressional Directory  Y4.P93/1  The official directory of the United States Congress includes members of the Senate and House, committee members, room and telephone numbers, and officials of the courts.  Also online.

Congressional Record (daily)   Published daily, this is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. Available online only.

Constitution of the United States of America: Analysis and Interpretation   Y 1.1/3   Also known as the Constitution Annotated, it is the “legal analysis and interpretation of the United States Constitution based primarily on Supreme Court cases.”  Also online. 

Economic Indicators   Y 4.EC 7:EC 7   Published monthly, Economic Indicators provide economic information on GDP, income, employment, production, business activity, prices, money, credit, security markets, and more. Also online. 

Economic Report of the President   PR 44.9:  An annual report which gives an overview of the nation’s economic progress using text and extensive data appendices. Also online. 

Federal Register (daily)  The daily publication of the rules, proposed rules, and notices of the Federal agencies and organizations along with executive orders. Available online only.

govinfo   An online database that gives free access to official publications from all three branches of the United States Government. Available online only.

United States Code   Y 1.2/5   The permanent and general laws of the United States are divided by broad subjects into fifty-one titles. Also online. 

United States Government Manual  AE2.108/2 & GS4.109: This is the official handbook provided by the federal government on the agencies of the three branches of government. Available online only. 

United States Reports   JU 6.8  Contains the 4th and final generation of the Supreme Court’s opinions. Also online.
